I received a kidney transplant!

On Saturday, January 13, 2024, I received a life-saving kidney transplant from a deceased donor. I named the kidney "Fran" because it came from San Francisco.

Although it was sleepy kidney, it was doing well after the second week. I had a couple of complications (primarily somehow I got at UTI caused by multi-drug resistant E. coli that landed me back in the hospital and on IV antibiotics for a total of about 10 days), Fran is doing absolutely amazing. It's been 4 weeks and my creatinine is within normal range at 1.18 and it's been over 20 days since I had my last dialysis treatment.

So grateful for the donor and his family for donating his kidney. It's given me new life.

Thank you to my husband, Rick, who was there going through the transplant with me. He was literally at the hospital every day and spent every single night with me through both hospital stays. I love you, Pooh.

With so much gratitude,
